Luxury Villas in Barbados

The island of Barbados is in the eastern Caribbean to the northeast of Venezuela. It is known as the Little England of the Caribbean and is a Protectorate of the United Kingdom. This limestone-coral island has many luxury vacation villas belonging to celebrities and royalty including Sir Paul McCartney, Simon Cowell and Jude Law. Altogether Barbados welcomes more than 250,000 tourists each year to enjoy a relaxed Caribbean vacation on this idyllic island.

Colonized by the British in 1627, Barbados developed a profitable plantation economy exporting sugar, rum and molasses until the 20th century. Other British influences can be seen in the English language, the mainly protestant religion and the fact that cars drive on the left hand side of the road. Getting around Barbados by local bus is cheap and easy, or you can rent a car or motorbike to get around the island from your Caribbean luxury villa.

The capital of Barbados is Bridgetown, a charming town with colorful English architecture and a laid-back island atmosphere. The east coast of Barbados is the most rugged and has great surfing on the long stretches of beach. It is also famous for its tide pools which offer a relaxing place to soak and cool off. The western coast of Barbados offers a more traditional Caribbean vacation lifestyle with soft white sand and calm blue waters.

Most of the hotels and luxury villas on Barbados are on the south coast where the Grantley Adams International Airport is also located. Daily flights from Miami, New York, London and many other international destinations keep the island’s tourism industry busy.

Barbados is popular for Caribbean honeymoons and weddings. It is also a port of call for many Caribbean cruise ships, which frequent these warm waters during the winter months.
