Caribbean Weather
Although the weather may vary slightly between the Caribbean Islands, the temperatures are generally warm throughout the year. Caribbean Vacations and cruises are particularly popular from December to April when vacationers, retirees and “snowbirds” flock to this tropical paradise to escape the cold winter further north.
Even in January, temperatures throughout the Caribbean Islands range from 70-85F. In July temperatures are a little higher, ranging from 77F in the Bahamas to a gorgeous 86F in the Cayman Islands, perfect for a sunshine Caribbean vacation. With gentle sea breezes from the prevailing trade winds, the climate throughout the Caribbean is very pleasant.
Whether you are looking for a destination wedding, a Caribbean honeymoon, a diving vacation or an eco-friendly vacation in the Caribbean, there is a perfect location and climate to suit your needs. Whilst Aruba is very arid with no chance of inclement weather, Dominica has plenty of showers to satisfy the lush rainforest which thrives on the island. Most other Caribbean islands, including Jamaica, Barbados and St Maarten, fall somewhere between these two extremes with plenty of warm sunny weather.
Almost all the Caribbean Islands are green and covered with lush tropical jungle. The area does get its share of rainfall, which varies depending on the location and the altitude of the island. The rain falls as short but heavy afternoon showers and the sun quickly returns to evaporate the puddles. The heaviest rain usually falls between August and October which coincides with the middle of the hurricane season. Of the 7000 tropical islands and cays which make up the Caribbean Islands, direct hits are highly unusual and the odds of a hurricane affecting your Caribbean vacation are extremely low.
